Operating Instructions 
for Break Bulk Cargo Loading
Instructions for loading
the Portable Modular Tanks™

Using a forklift collect wagon Skeletal Conversion Kit from yard.

Align and load Skeletal Conversion
Kit onto wagon bed.

Lift the short sides of Skeletal Conversion Kit panels into place
in the up position and the long sides down for loading access.

Load Break Bulk onto wagon
bed using a forklift.

Collect the PMT™ from the rail yard using a reach stacker (if PMT™'s are full of product, otherwise if empty use a forklift).

Place empty PMT™ on the ground legs
in the retracted position of the PMT™.

Disengage the empty PMT™ Leg Twist Lock
(on all four legs)

Engage the Spring Loaded Pins - they will automatically engage as the retracted legs slide out.

Raise the empty PMT™ with the reach stacker (or fork lift) make sure the PMT™

is aligned and balanced before lifting the PMT™ off the ground.

 

Four loud “clucks” will be heard when they are engaged and locked in the required position.


Visually check that the bolts are visible in the leg holes.

Ensure all Wagon Twist Locks
are in position and locked.

With legs extended lift the empty PMT™ onto the wagon bed align with the Wagon Twist Locks.

Stack an additional empty PMT with legs in retracted position.

 

Ensure all Twist Locks between the UPPER and LOWER PMT™'s are in position and locked.

Rail wagon Skeletal Conversion Kit panels are locked in place to secure freight.

NB. PMT’s™ Must be empty for this initial stage of the operation until the PMT™ 
is loaded and secure on the 
wagon in the down position.

Lower Skeletal Conversion Kit panels (long sides).

 

Remove empty PMT™ with the legs in the extended position from the wagon after disengaging the Wagon Twist Locks. Make sure the forklift is aligned with the channels on the PMT™.

 

This task can also be done
with a reach stacker.

 

 

Then remove all the Break Bulk with a forklift.

Fold Skeletal Conversion Kit flat and remove with

a forklift.

Disengage the Spring Loaded Pins on all four legs, it may be needed to manoeuvre and take the weight off the empty PMT™ legs so that the Spring Loaded Pins can retract and in-turn
allow the legs to retract into the PMT™.

Engage the empty PMT™ Leg
Twist Locks (on all four legs).

Use reach stacker or forklift
to lift empty PMT™ to height
of wagon bed.

With PMT™ in lowered position on the wagon, put the safety harness on making sure it is fitted correctly.

The straps should fit snug, allowing the shoulder straps to remain taut
and ensure a full range of motion.

Clip the safety harness onto
the railing at the top of the  PMT™  and climb up ladder safely.

Ensure all Twist Locks between the empty UPPER and LOWER PMT™'s are in position and locked.

Engage empty PMT™ Wagon
Twist Locks (on all four legs).

Operating Instructions

to Erect Railing

Only fill PMT™ in the lowered position on wagon.

Lift railing into position from right to left. Insert safety pin.

 

Make use of non slip walkway across
the tank and up to the manhole
to avoid slipping.

To lower rail reverse the above sequence.
